Known for their mash-up of hip-hop, reggae, and alt-rock, West Coast combo Dirty Heads take a bit of a left turn on Super Moon, the band's seventh studio LP. Recorded live to tape at Studio A in Nashville's historic RCA building, the band worked with Dave Cobb, a producer best known for his work with country and Americana artists like Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell, and Brandi Carlisle. Although decidedly not a country album, Dirty Heads took inspiration from the legendary studio where Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash recorded and from the diverse musical spirit of Nashville at large, turning in a gritty, vibe-filled album that adds classic soul and R&B grooves to their atmospheric mix. ~ Timothy Monger
