Released in 1979, BACK IN YOUR LIFE marked the first time Jonathan Richman and his Modern Lovers recorded two albums in a row with the same personnel. However, even with a gradually evolving line-up, Richman and company stayed true to a geek-rock aesthetic and this release is very much in line with his earlier JONATHAN RICHMAN AND THE MODERN LOVERS and ROCK 'N' ROLL WITH THE MODERN LOVERS. The album includes the unveiling of Richman's classic title song as well as his "Abdul and Cleopatra." More songs of romance and wonder at the world--the small things ("I'm Nature's Mosquito") and the big things ("Party In The Woods Tonight"). Richman's choice of covers is impeccable as well, with "Buzz Buzz Buzz" (a 1957 song by the Hollywood Flames) revamped to sound utterly original.
