Kool Keith's third Mello Music Group release was produced by Psycho Les of the Beatnuts, who made an appearance on Keith's Feature Magnetic in 2016. The album continues Keith's solid run of late-2010s releases, during which he sounded a lot more energized and focused than on some of his iffy mid-period material. Throughout the full-length, Les keeps the beats relatively straightforward, funky, and stone cold, leaving ample room for Keith to deliver his densely packed, surreal verses about porn, luxury, spaceships, and any of his other favorite topics. Tracks like "Graceland" and "Plush Mink" are all extravagant fantasies, with Keith taking multiple cars to arrive at a penthouse which he owns, and paying $2000 for a spaghetti dinner. Yet he's also perfectly fine with pulling his hijinks at the mall, as on the Paul Wall-assisted "Foot Locker." Only a few other guests show up; in addition to Les' verse on the stark, booming "95 South," Jeru the Damaja matches Keith's freaky sex rhymes on "She Answer," and Cypress Hill's B-Real does exactly what you would expect on "Zero Fux." Otherwise, Keith is simply another consistent, enjoyable album from one of rap's true legends. ~ Paul Simpson
