First coming together on 2005's In the Reins, Calexico and Iron & Wine re-entered the studio to record their first full-length collaboration, Years to Burn. Recording the album at Sound Emporium in Nashville with producer Matt Ross-Spang, Iron & Wine's Sam Beam came armed with a collection of demos that Calexico's Joey Burns and John Convertino then helped mould into a truly collaborative release, combining the hushed tones of Beam's voice with the widescreen Americana of Calexico.
