スティーヴ・アルビニとジム・オルークという2人の天才と、ビーチ・ボーイズやはっぴいえんどとの仕事で70年代の音楽シーンに偉大な足跡を残したヴァン・ダイク・パークスが、ジョアンナ・ニューサムの奏でるグランド・ハープの音色と歌声に恋をして作り上げた新作。その事実だけでも、どれほどの傑作かを窺い知ることができるだろう。作品の要となる歌とハープはアルビニの録音によるもので、その職人技が若かりし頃のケイト・ブッシュを思わせる彼女の無邪気さと不思議さを肉感的に引き出し、またパークスの黄金率がノスタルジックでイノセントな響きを導いている。そこにオルークがオーケストラを駆使した夢幻の最終ミックスを施行。こうして出来上がった美しくて壮大な叙事詩は全5編55分。この世とは別の時間が流れているような、あまりにも心地良くて濃密な空間。50年後も変わらぬ評価を確信できる、歴史的名盤の誕生だ!
