フリートウッド・マック『Before the Beginning - 1968-1970Rare Live & Demo Sessions』ギター・ロック史上に残る初期の未発表ライヴ&デモ音源全41曲を最新リマスターで収録

ブリティッシュ・ブルースが誇る天才ギタリスト、ピーター・グリーンが率いた第1期フリートウッド・マックの未発表ライヴとデモ音源を収録した3枚組CD『ビフォー・ザ・ビギニング 1968-1970～ライヴ&デモ・セッションズ～』が発売。1968年と1970年のライヴ録音37曲とデモ音源4曲、合計41曲が世界初発売。メンバーはピーター・グリーン(ギター、ヴォーカル)、ミック・フリートウッド(ドラムス)、ジョン・マクヴィー(ベース)、ジェレミー・スペンサー(ギター、ヴォーカル)と昨年亡くなったダニー・カーワン(ギター・ヴォーカル)。アメリカで幸運にも発見されたお宝音源を収録したテープは、内容について一切表示もないままだったという。幸い、40年以上にわたり手付かずのままだったテープの保存状態はとてもよく、今回のリリースのため半世紀の時を経て新たにマスタリングされた。発見されたライヴ&デモ音源の録音された日時や場所の詳細は不明で謎につつまれている。今回発売するバンドの初期音源はブルース色濃厚なサウンドが特徴で、今も根強い人気を誇る。2019年はフリートウッド・マックが日本に紹介されてから50周年にあたる。ミック・フリートウッドが女装した強烈なジャケット写真のアメリカ向けに制作されたコンピレーション・アルバム『英吉利の薔薇』が日本で初めて発売されたフリートウッド・マックのアルバムとなるからだ。歴史的に貴重な音源が半世紀を経て世に放たれることになったこの企画・選曲は現在72歳のピーター・グリーンとバンドがアプルーヴァルしている。解説にはピーター・グリーンが当時について語った貴重なコメント満載の44ページの英文ブックレット付。
