This is a superb album of soundtrack music, and a totally unexpected one to come from Charles Gerhardt, who usually devoted his energy to composers of earlier generations than Lee Holdridge, who was born in 1944 (a year by which most of the composers whose work Gerhardt usually records had long since established themselves). There's nothing but great, gorgeous music here, whether it's the rousing overture from Wizards and Warriors, the ravishing love theme from Splash, or the suite from the television mini-series East of Eden. It's all well played and recorded and thoroughly enjoyable, although the annotation is thin to the point of being almost nonexistent. ~ Bruce Eder
