1958年のニューポートジャズフェスティバルを収録し、高く評価されたバートスターンの映画「Jazz On a Summer's Day（真夏の夜のジャズ）」。本作は開催から60周年（2018年時）を記念した豪華版。I-Sonicのレイ・シャルマンによってDVDオーサリング、サウンドトラックはレイノルズ・マスタリングのピーター・レイノルズによってCD用にデジタルリマスター、2枚の10inchLPはAlchemy StudiosのBarry Grintによってハーフスピードでマスタリング。アーティストやトラックごとの詳細を含む、モジョのフレッド・デラーによる新しい決定的なライナーノーツを備えた、40ページのハードカバーのブックレットを収録。 DVDエキストラには、バートスターンへのインタビュー、真夏の夜のジャズの紹介、アーティストの経歴、フォトギャラリーが含まれます。

伝説の「真夏の夜のジャズ」60周年記念盤。本編映画のほかにＣＤ、10インチＬＰ付きの豪華仕様で、マニア心を大いにくすぐるが、残念なことに最も重要な映画を収録したＤＶＤの画質が悪い。私は日本盤ＤＶＤを所持していて、それもＶＨＳビデオ程度の画質で決して褒められたものではないが、本作はそれより更に解像度が低く、アニバーサリーとして画質向上を期待していた身としては残念に思った。しかし10インチサイズの装丁に加え40ページに及ぶブックレットも魅力で、所有欲は十分満たされる。映像の悪さを考慮しても、購入する価値ありと思う
