Includes original release liner notes. STUDY IN BROWN is a specially imported, limited edition reissue. All tracks have been digitally remastered (24-bit). Study in Brown features the 1955 version of the Clifford Brown/Max Roach Quintet, a group also including tenor saxophonist Harold Land, pianist Richie Powell, and bassist George Morrow. One of the premiere early hard bop units, this band had unlimited potential. Highlights of this set are "Cherokee" (during which trumpeter Brown is brilliant), "Swingin'," and "Sandu." スタディ・イン・ブラウン｜SHM-CD

ブラウン＝ローチ・クインテットは全作抑えるべき名盤だらけですがこれはその中でも絶対抑えるべき超名盤。「チェロキー」はJAZZ史上に残る超名演。その他の曲でもブラウンのアグレッシブかつ陽性のトランペットが全編で魅せてくれます。さらに、リッチー・パウエルとハロルド・ランドも素晴らしい演奏を繰り広げていて最強クインテットと言われる理由がよく分かる仕上がりになってます。
