Black metal doesn't get much more evil than Sweden's Marduk. Their 1998 release, NIGHTWING, a bonafide classic of the genre, is a concept album about blood. Specifically, the second half of the album is devoted to one of history's most notorious connoisseurs of the life-giving fluid, Vlad "Dracula" Tepes. Searingly blasphemous and blatantly satanic, the lyrical themes on NIGHTWING are designed to shock, but it's the flesh-rending storm of fanged guitars and frenzied drums that truly inspire fear. The colossal five-part suite WARLORD OF WALLACHIA pays tribute with wicked affection to the man known as the Impaler.
