Gwar includes: Oderus Urungus. For a bunch of guys dressed up in goofy costumes, Gwar sure can rock. RAGNAROK, the band's fifth album, doesn't do much in the way of expanding Gwar's thrash metal palette. But Gwar fans, who will undoubtedly eat this up with a spoon, wouldn't have it any other way. Gwar is a collective, and the whole ensemble--including Cardinal Syn, Jizmack the Gusher, Sexecutioner, and Beefcake--are on board for this one. Song titles like "Meat Sandwich," "Whargoul," and "Knife in Your Guts" indicate there hasn't been much softening in Gwar's brutal sensibility. Although the band is essentially a live experience, RAGNAROK is another defining installment from the world's foremost sex and violence-obsessed pagan heavy metal mutants from outer space.
