御年64を迎えたセローン、およそ7年ぶりの新作。ユーロ・ディスコの親玉としてジョルジオ・モロダーと並び称されるフレンチの重鎮だが、電子音楽家としてミュンヘン・サウンドを確立したジョルジオとは異なり、USのソウルやロックに親しんだファンキー・ドラマーという原点を持つ彼は、革新的というよりはトレンドに対する柔軟で品のあるアプローチがブームで開花したという印象が強い。ゆえに楽曲性やグルーヴの普遍性も高く、"Supernature"(77年)で世界的な成功を収めて以降も各方面で周期的にリサイクルと再評価が繰り返されるのだろう。いまアルバムを出す意図はカイザやアロー・ブラック、ブレンダン・ライリー、アレクシス・テイラー(ホット・チップ)といったシンガーの人選からも明白ながら、本人は変わらずドラムを叩いて美麗な生音のグルーヴを気分良く紡ぎ続けるだけ。だからして、同じ道を進んできたナイル・ロジャーズのギター参加も大して重要なことじゃない。こんなんが権威化したらクソです。今回も最高。

Red Lips ｜CDアルバム

70年代からヒット曲を出しまくっているフレンチディスコ界の重鎮は相変わらず健在でした。めちゃくちゃカッコいい！全然世代じゃない自分のような人間でさえ魅了してしまう彼の音作りは最高です。1曲目から惹きつけてくれる感じがたまらない。ファンキーかつロッキンなナンバーが多いので、ダンサーにはオススメ！
