Recorded at Ariwa Studios, London, England. Both the title and artist credits of this record are somewhat misleading. These '90s-era dubs were not recorded at Lee Perry's legendary Black Ark Studios in Kingston, Jamaica, as it was destroyed by Perry in the late '70s. Instead, these are dubs created by Perry's '90s protege and musical partner, The Mad Professor, based on vintage Perry instrumental tracks from his '60s and '70s heyday. Perry's hands-on involvement is primarily as a performer, chanting and extemporizing in his inimitable fashion-you've got to love someone who performs a toast called "Poop Song"-over The Mad Professor's undeniably heavy, cool, ultra-atmospheric dub. The results are never less than fine and often fascinating, no matter how they're billed.
