Sterlingの「スイス・ロマンティシズム」シリーズ。エミール・ジャック=ダルクローズ(1865-1950)は、ウィーンに生まれ、ブルックナーとパリ音楽院のマチス・リュシーに学びました。音楽教育の研究も行い、音楽教育の手法「リトミック」を開発、発展させたことで知られます。《舞踊組曲第1番》や《アルプスの詩》などを収録した第1集(CDS1057-2)、悲劇的印象《1914年》や管弦楽組曲《ロマン地方の絵》などの第2集(CDS1065-2)につづく管弦楽作品集。〈戻ってきたのね、私の愛しい人〉〈扉を開けたままにしておいた…〉〈待ったのに、誰も来なかった〉〈あの男(ひと)にまた会った〉〈夜に泣き、昼に笑う〉〈歓びの今宵〉〈扉を開けたままにしておいた…〉の「7つの抒情的情景」の《愛の悲劇》。《田園組曲》は、世俗オラトリオ《夜明かし》から抜粋した〈窓辺で)〉〈老人たちが踊る…〉〈森が語る…〉〈妖精たち〉の4曲の組曲。《サンチョ》は、第2集に〈前奏曲〉が収録された音楽牧歌劇《ジャニー》の成功を受けてジュネーヴ大劇場から委嘱された、ドン・キホーテを題材に採った抒情喜劇です。
