Right Direction's take on straight hardcore is aggressive and full of testosterone, yet offers little for the imagination. Dave Reumers spits lyrics as if they are burning his mouth, and the band backs his fast-paced shouting with an equally speedy punk assault. Unfortunately, even at their best, Right Direction sounds like a second-rate Suicidal Tendencies, even though they change up the pace often with trumpets and female vocalization. There's nothing particularly poor on Bury the Hatchet; in reality this is an enjoyable album, it just carries one too many similarities to other, better bands of the same nature. "He's My Friend" and the respectful ode to those lost, "Heroes Never Die," are worthy of multiple listens; otherwise this is only appealing to those craving for more bands to sound like Suicidal Tendencies. ~ Jason D.
