Scanner (Robin Rimbaud) is on a mission. Using his portable scanning devices and radio receivers, he records clandestine conversations, extracting the very fabric of our communication network from the ether. His art attempts to demonstrate that nothing is sacred and that everything is permissible. Rimbaud hammers home his point by splicing cut-and-paste transmission interceptions into pointillist electronic pastiche, enhancing and exciting hijacked conversations. The effect is all at once perversely fascinating, unsettling, and eerie.
On SULPHUR, voices seemingly out of "Radio Entry" are left adrift in a sonic whirlpool of sounds that spit, factories that grind down and stop, and tones that breathe metallic gases. Scanner's domain is like some sort of tangible twilight zone where our adjacent personalities become even less "Brittle"-especially when exposed to ten minutes of calculated sound oscillations, sensory fibrillation, muted snare-drum rhythms, and expanded noise parameters. The contents of SULPHUR are vaporous and powerful, much like the tinted gas for which the album is named.
録音 : ステレオ (Live)
