Alongside Philip Glass and Steve Reich, Terry Riley is considered one of the fathers of minimalism. This movement is known for its repetitive, trance-inducing sound patterns. The first disc was recorded in Los Angeles in 1971 and the other was recorded in Paris the following year. These are hypnotic organ improvisations with Riley's own tape delay rig credited as his feedback system. Rumbling bass underscores Riley's polymetric piano figures.
