フライブルク・バロック・オーケストラのコンサートマスターとしておなじみの名手ゴットフリート・フォン・デア・ゴルツと同オーケストラのメンバーによる、ジェミニアーニの登場。ジェミニアーニは、自身ヴィルトゥオーゾのヴァイオリン奏者でした。「ヴァイオリン奏法論」には、自身で作った28のエクササイズと12の作品を掲載がされており、これらの作品は、装飾や、メサ・ディヴォーチェ(一定の音を長く引き伸ばしながら徐々にクレッシェンドし、つづいてデクレッシェンドして終わること)など、ジェミニアーニの奏法が反映されています。どの曲も舞曲のスタイルやオペラのアリアを思わせるものなど多様性に富んでおり、楽しめます。全12曲から成るop.4のソナタからこのディスクで演奏されているソナタ第8番はイタリアの様式、第6番はフランスの様式で書かれた対照的な2曲。ゴルツとメンバーたちのセンスが光ります。
