Blue Cheer: Dick Peterson (vocals, bass); Leigh Stephens (guitar); Paul Whaley (drums). Includes bonus tracks. Blue Cheer: Dickie Peterson (vocals, bass); Leigh Stephens (guitar); Paul Whaley (drums). Recorded at Amigo Studios, North Hollywood, California. Personnel: Dick Peterson (vocals); Leigh Stephens (guitar); Paul Whaley (drums). Recording information: Amigo Studios, North Hollywood, California. Photographer: John Van Hamersveld. The thing to remember about Blue Cheer is that when VINCEBUS ERUPTUM came out in 1968, it seemed the height of effrontery until the Stooges showed up and took things even further. Who did these three guys think they were, harshing everyone's mellow with the loudest, noisiest, heaviest guitar thud anybody had ever heard until then, and turning classics like Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues" and Mose Allison's "Parchment Farm" into sludgy, distorted riff-fests? So not only were they arguably the first heavy metal band, but you could also make a case for them being among the first punk rockers.

商品の紹介

Uncut (8/03, p.120) - 4 stars out of 5 - "...VINCEBUS ERUPTUM is apocalyptic amp-damage all the way, rumbling, overdriven blues for the end of the world. OUTSIDE IN is more refined, but every bit as brain-blisteringly heavy..." Magnet (p.108) - "[F]or sheer scuzz-rock viscosity, you couldn't beat VINCEBUS ERUPTUM. Thirty-two minutes' worth of proto-metal, proto-punk, proto-Sub Pop skronk -- did we mention scuzz?"
