Personnel includes: Snakefinger (guitar); Blaine Reininger (violin). Audio Remasterer: Christian Loebenstein. GREENER POSTURES was the 1981 follow up to British Phil "Snakefinger" Litham's CHEWING HIDES THE SOUND, released the year before. Both albums were made in collaboration with The Residents, with whom Snakefinger played guitar as a guest (he's unmistakably a part of the proceedings on DUCKSTAB--and on numerous other Resident's efforts as well). Additionally, GREENER POSTURES was originally released on The Residents' Ralph Records label. Snakefinger took to the road with a regular touring band shortly after this disc was released. Subsequent releases were cut with the same band (which included former Magic Band member Eric Drew Feldman), or some combination thereof. POSTURES and Snakefinger's first album are very much an adjunct to The Residents' canon. The treated vocals and sounds place him at times closer to Brian Eno than to The Residents, but Residents' presence is pervasive. In a way, this is the warmer, lighter side of The Residents.

商品の紹介

English avant-guitarist Philip Charles Lithman, aka Snakefinger, began an association with the Residents in 1969, before the group even had that name. The Residents co-produced his two albums with Snakefinger. Greener Postures was originally released in 1980. This is the peculiar and unique material of a cult guitarist extraordinaire. Each song is a quirky island in a sea of sonic oddity. The gamut on Greener Postures runs from the edgy depression ballad "Living in Vain" to "I Come From an Island" with an oppressive beat and stark message that could come from the Residents' The Mole Show. A listen to this album forces consideration of his immense contribution to the Residents' sound. ~ Tom Schulte|
