This is a storied collection of some of Paul Desmond's favorite melodies, beautifully arranged and delicately crafted. Desmond is widely recognized for his mellow, easygoing note flow and lush tones on the sax. Captured here with vibrant sound quality, the listener can easily be taken into this stream of jazz delight. Songs like Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer's "Skylark" and Paul Desmond's own "Desmond Blue" breathe with life from the midst of the CD player with vibrant colors and textures of jazz. Desmond's brilliant radiance of the sax instrument is portrayed with exceptional feeling and quality. This collection can really set the listener in a relaxed, casual, and perhaps romantic mood with the help of a dreamy setting and a memorable time of day. Either on the beach, in the midst of a crowded city street, the late hours of a nightclub or at home in the a.m., Desmond's music is a refreshing step away from much of today's mainstream music.
