Full performer name: R.L. Burnside/Raine Burnette/Johnny Woods.

Recorded between 1980 & 1986. Includes liner notes by Leo Bruin.
Going Down South captures three bluesmen who all hailed from the hill country of Northern Mississippi; guitarists Ranie Burnette and R.L. Burnside and the harmonica of Johnny Woods. They occasionally accompany each other, but mainly play solo in locations as diverse as New Orleans, the Netherlands, and Burnside's house. Fifteen songs are included, with each player spotlighted on five apiece. These are timeless, raw, stark, and mainly acoustic blues highlighted by the slide guitar of Burnette and Burnside. While this is an all around enjoyable release, Burnside comes out on top with his version of Muddy Water's "Cant' Be Satisified" (with Woods on harp) and the uncensored version of "Stack O' Lee and Billy Lyons." If this genre of blues is your style, check into any of the Swingmaster releases, including Mississippi Hill Country Blues, an entire disc of early acoustic Burnside. ~ Al Campbell
録音 : ステレオ (Studio)
