AKA Sam Taylor (keyboards). Recorded at Rampart Studios, Houston, Texas. King's X just missed a commercial breakthrough with their 1990 release, FAITH HOPE LOVE, so expectations ran high for this self-titled follow-up two years later. While the King's X faithful snapped up the album upon its release, it failed to give the band that extra needed push. The melodic "Black Flag" was a favorite on MTV's "Headbanger's Ball" program, but the band didn't push the musical boundaries on KING'S X as they had on their previous releases. Still, there were plenty of highlights, such as "The World Around Me," "Prisoner," "Lost in Germany," and "Not Just for the Dead" (the latter was unjustly never issued as a single).
