After the release of their stunning debut album Sun Structures in 2014 launched them to the head of the neo-psychedelic class, the English quartet Temples took their time on their second record. They spent a couple years blanketing the globe playing shows to a steadily expanding fan base, while writing and tinkering with ideas all the time. When the album's first single "Certainty" debuted in late 2016, it was a bit of a shock to hear synthesizers taking the lead and the layered jangle of guitars taking a backseat. Synths and mellotrons featured heavily in the album's more direct, less mystical approach, as the band explored new dimensions of sound. Self-produced and written by all four band members, Volcano was released by Fat Possum in March of 2016.

Volcano｜CDアルバム
シンセサイザーや打ち込みを多く取り入れたテン年代の色が押し出されて入るものの、その中で作り出されるサイケサウンドや、グループサウンズの様な美しく丁寧に紡がれるメロディーは健在。1stの様な衝動的なものは薄くなってしまっていて残念ではありますが、同じ様な音色の中でも彼ららしく光るマニアックな個性、安定の演奏力と引き出しの多さに感服です。
