カナダはモントリオールの4人組ロックバンド"パトリック・ワトソン"の3rdアルバムがジュエルケース仕様で登場!2007年にリリースした2ndアルバム『クローズ・トゥ・パラダイス』がその年のカナダ版グラミー賞といわれるジュノー賞にノミネート、さらにアーケイド・ファイアやファイストなど並みいる強豪を抑え、ポラリス・ミュージック・プライズを受賞。瞬く間に世界中で注目されるようになった。本作はアークティック・モンキーズや同胞のジュニア・ボーイズ、オーウェン・パレットが在籍する〈ドミノ・レコード〉移籍第一弾で、3作目となるスタジオ・アルバム。美しすぎるギターのメロディーに合わせファルセット・ボイスで歌い上げるパトリックは、まるでボン・イヴェールを彷彿とさせる。

After spending nearly five years on the road promoting 2006's Close to Paradise and 2009's Polaris Music Prize-nominated Wooden Arms, Patrick Watson and his band retreated to the Montreal-based singer/songwriter's apartment to craft the appropriately titled Adventures in Your Own Backyard. Spare, haunting, and emotionally charged, Watson's fourth outing feels a little voyeuristic, like walking in on a character in the midst of a moonlit soliloquy.
