Following 2013's Signed and Sealed in Blood, 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory is the ninth studio effort from Boston Celtic punk ensemble Dropkick Murphys. Comprising bright, exuberant guitar work, resonant accordions, and socio-political lyrics, the record was the first to be recorded outside of Massachusetts after the band's relocation to El Paso, Texas for the entire creative process. Inspired by the group's work with the Claddagh Fund for recovering addicts, the album is led by the single "Blood" and was released through their own imprint, Born and Bred Records. ~ Rob Wacey

地元ボストンをこよなく愛するケルティック・パンク・バンドの新作は、初となるテキサスでの録音。とはいえ、いつも通りみんなで大合唱できるキャッチーな曲が並び、歌詞に目を向けてもやはりローカル色が強め。従来との違いを挙げるならば、マラソン大会での爆弾テロについて書かれた"4-15-13"ほか、現代社会の問題に向き合ったものが目立つ点だろう。そこでの真摯な姿勢が作品全体に説得力を与えていてグッとくる。
