Ben Folds' In Concert 2015-2016 collects eight songs from a series of shows with yMusic, the Brooklyn chamber ensemble that backed him on 2015's So There. Taking advantage of the opportunity to perform that album's original arrangements, In Concert features mostly songs from there, along with Way to Normal's "Effington" and two Ben Folds Five deep cuts ("Erase Me," "Steven's Last Night in Town"). The arrangements are lively, to say the least, with intricate parts played breezily by the virtuoso ensemble, which keeps it feeling like a power pop show, or at least a singer/songwriter one. The record was originally released for Record Store Day as a five-track vinyl EP with a download card for the full eight tracks. ~ Marcy Donelson
