This seventh studio album and long-awaited follow-up to 2004's 'Sex, Love And Rock 'n' Roll' by the Californian punk rock pioneers sees them heavily inspired by Depression-era American folk, notably Woody Guthrie. Frontman and principal songwriter Mike Ness has always written lyrics with a strong socio-political bent which rail against injustice and oppression, chiming perfectly with Guthrie's work. The resulting album throws hints of cowpunk into their raw, amped-up rock 'n' roll sound.

商品の紹介

Alternative Press - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "[With] longtime live staple 'Bakersfield,' finally getting a proper studio treatment." Mojo - 4 stars out of 5 -- "The band's seventh studio album mixes gritty country, the more familiar rootsy rock'n'roll of the autobiographical 'Diamond In The Rough'...and the Stonesy 'California'..." Billboard - "Each one of these tunes will clearly rattle the rafters anywhere Social D plays, but with an added veneer that complements the raw, punk-like energy that is the band's stock in trade." Uncut - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Closer 'Still Alive' encapsulates the diehard survivor theme, and the band hammer it home with heartlifting vigour." Spin - "Social D's trademark brew of punk, country, and Stonesy blues raunch feels weirdly, surprisingly fres....Ness has reaffirmed his relevance with a vengeance."
