SELECTION SIXTEEN is more wacky techno-scribble from Sheffield, England's highly respected Warp label--home of Aphex Twin and Two Lone Swordsmen. This is the sound of synthesizers and drum machines pushed to their limits, so expect lots of odd noises, samples, and frantic drum patterns that no human could ever play. Squarepusher is Tom Jenkinson, a well-respected member of the UK's techno fraternity. Listening to this album, it is not difficult to see why--the styles range from drum-and-bass, squelchy, acidy techno, to downright bleepy weirdness. If your tastes in electronic music are definitely left of center, then this will undoubtedly appeal to you. If music was represented by visual art, Squarepusher would be the work of Jackson Pollock.
