Kurt Wagner and his Nashville chamber pop ensemble Lambchop have been playing stylish and unpredictable music since the mid-'90s, blending country, pop, and post-rock influences alongside Wagner's abstract but very human lyrics. For 2016's FLOTUS (which Wagner says stands for "For Love Often Turns Us Still"), Lambchop add even more new flavors to the mix. In 2015, Wagner debuted an electronic side project, HeCTA, and on FLOTUS, Lambchop mix their traditional large-ensemble arrangements with electronic beats and accents, resulting in music that sounds fresh and contemporary but also fits the group's trademark style. ~ Mark Deming
