This is a limited editon of 3,000 pressings. This rerecording of the Norwegian black metal band's classic 1996 album, which includes two previously unreleased tracks and a DVD, has all the nuanced aggression of the original, with some welcome updates in the addition of the formidable percussive talents of Mayhem drummer Hellhammer and a greater emphasis on guitars over the more keyboard-heavy original. The fearsome onslaught of "Antikrist," with its unearthly chorus and pulverizing rhythm, is suitably awe-inspiring, while the relentless attack of "Nar Sjelen Hentes Til Helvete" cements the band's reputation as one of black metal's most accomplished practitioners.
