Known to fans around the world for his original compositions as well as covers ranging from traditional Hawaiian pieces to "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," tenor ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro turned to improvisation for Nashville Sessions. Recorded over six days in January 2016 with no prepared material, the album features the trio of Shimabukuro, bassist Nolan Verner, and drummer Evan Hutchings, who wrote together on the fly and recorded performances live in the studio. With Shimabukuro making use of distortion pedals and vintage analog gear, and with production by R.S. Field (Steve Earle, Webb Wilder), the resulting material bridges instrumental prog rock and world fusion. ~ Marcy Donelson
