Personnel: Doug DeHays (tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone). Best Days, Tamela Mann's previous album, not only topped the Billboard gospel chart but reached number 14 on the all-genre Billboard 200. In no rush to capitalize upon it, Mann took her time in following it with One Way, though she was also occupied during the interim with her acting career, including the filming of two seasons of Mann and Wife. Another set of compelling contemporary gospel, One Way displays a range typical of Mann's releases, easily moving from introspective ballads to wholly churchified belters to lively celebratory numbers. It even leads with a rocking anthem of sorts that bursts with electric guitar and horns. Among the collaborators are husband David Mann, Kirk Franklin, Eric Dawkins, and, most surprisingly, Timbaland. ~ Andy Kellman
