2016年に没後100年を迎えたマックス・レーガー(1873-1916)。レーガーは、数多くのオルガン作品を残したことで知られており、多くの音符、頻繁に転調する複雑な和声など、演奏には高い技術が要求されます。J.S.バッハを規範とした緻密な対位法、そしてベートーヴェンやブラームスに倣った変奏技法など古い時代の書法や形式が用いられながら、ワーグナーやリストから受け継がれた濃厚なロマンティシズムが随所に漂っています。没100年を記念してのこのボックスにはオルガン作品だけでなく、カイルベルト指揮による管弦楽作品からはじまり、室内楽、ピアノ曲、歌曲、合唱曲と、バランス良く収録されています。なおブックレットは、簡単なレーガーについての解説のみとなります(欧文のみ)。
