T.Rex has been the subject of many a compilation since Marc Bolan's death in 1977; 1999's T. REX CLASSICS finds another added to the list. Like many other compilations before it, its failure to include several of T. Rex's best known British Top Ten hits from its early-70's heyday ("Metal Guru," "Telegram Sam," "Children of the Revolution," etc.) prevents this double disc set from being a definitive overview.
Still, you can't go wrong with Disc One, which mixes two versions of the band's biggest U.S. hit, "Bang a Gong (Get it On)" with such glam gems as "Jeepster," "Baby Strange," and the distortion-soaked "Jewel." Disc Two focuses on the band's earlier psychedelic pothead pixie direction.
