Even if it's been ten years since the second edition, Etienne de Crecy's 2015 release Super Discount, Vol. 3 electro pops and thumps like its predecessor, and offers a variety of moods, with "cheeky" high up on that list. Dave and Posdnuos from the legendary De La Soul join the French house producer for the funny, funky times of "WTF," a track which mentions "the Eiffel Tower in my selfie" during its chorus, and every memorable social media service during its verses. Followed immediately by the Internet-lovin', Benny Benassi-like electro slapper "Hashtag My Ass," the album becomes so hip it almost hurts, but this slight redundancy is forgiven once the perfect dream disco of "Smile" arrives with special guest Alex Gopher, and later, there's woozy vocalist Kilo Kish offering stress relief by way of funk on the danceable tonic called "Follow." Highlight "You" could compete with any given Goldfrapp as Madeline Follin of Cults joins on vocals, while the simple instrumentals "Cut the Crap" and "Love" display the snide and the serene sides of the man's music, respectively. These crafted bits of cool dance offer instant gratification and can still stick to the bones, and while Etienne seems destined to be one known to the more informed electronic music fan, there's an excellent argument here that his name should be Justice-sized, maybe even Daft Punk huge. Super? Certainly. Discount? Hardly. ~ David Jeffries
