The Hope Six Demolition Project

史上初となる2度目のマーキュリー・ミュージック・プライズを受賞した前作『レット・イングランド・シェイク』に続く、5年ぶりとなる通算9枚目の新作アルバム。
前作に引き続きフラッドとジョン・パリッシュを迎えて制作された今作は彼女のコソボ、アフガニスタン、ワシントンDCへの旅をドキュメントした作品になっている。それらの旅で書き貯められた楽曲を、ロンドンのサマセット・ハウスに作った特設スタジオにて5週間に亘ってレコーディングされた。そのレコーディングは"レコーディング・イン・プロセス"と名付けられ、PJハーヴェイがバンドとプロデューサーとアルバムを制作する過程を一般公開するというプロジェクトでもあった。

On The Hope Six Demolition Project, Polly Jean Harvey builds on the political commentary that made Let England Shake so riveting. Sharing a name with a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development plan to revitalize public housing, the album reflects Harvey's trips to Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Washington, D.C., and was recorded in part at the London cultural center Somerset House.
