Flying Burrito Brothers: Cris Ethridge (bass); Gib Guilbeau (fiddle, guitar); Joel Scott Hill (guitar); Sneaky Pete (pedal steel); Gene Parsons (drums).
Recorded live in 1976.
Liner Note Author: John Tobler.
Recording information: 1976.
After the widely-publicized death of Burritos founder Gram Parsons and the commercial success of various bands formed by ex-Burritos (The Eagles, Souther Hillman Furay, Firefall), the band's ex-manager Eddie Ticknor asserted his rights to the now-viable name and formed a new Flying Burrito Brothers around original members Sneaky Pete Kleinow and Chris Ethridge, adding ex-Byrd Gene Parsons and new singers Joel Scott Hill and Gib Guilbeau to record the album FLYING AGAIN. The album wasn't a success and Ethridge left, leading Kleinow and Guilbeau to lead various incarnations of the Burritos for the next several decades. Although not released until 1991, this well-recorded live set is one of the few live documents to capture the onstage magic of this short-lived but artistically successful lineup of the Flying Burrito Brothers on folk standards like "Diggi Diggi Lo" and Burritos faves like "Close Up the Honky Tonks."
