2016年で結成30周年を迎えたUKの国民的バンド、マニック・ストリート・プリーチャーズが96年5月に放った傑作4thアルバム『エヴリシング・マスト・ゴー』の20周年記念盤。
『エヴリシング・マスト・ゴー』は、94年の前作『ホーリー・バイブル』発表後に失踪したバンドのアイコン的存在のリッチー・エドワーズ(G/作詞)が行方不明というバンド存続の危機にあった彼らが、3人体制で前進することを決断した渾身の1枚。前作のダークで頽廃的な世界観から一転、ストリングスを導入するなどメジャー感溢れる美しいサウンド・プロダクションへと変貌し、飾らないビジュアル含め全てにおいて大きな転換を図り、一気にファン層を拡大することに成功した作品である。
「ア・デザイン・フォー・ライフ」「エヴリシング・マスト・ゴー」「ケヴィン・カーター」「オーストラリア」と4枚ものUKトップ10シングルを生み出し、アルバムは全英アルバム・チャート2位を記録。発売当時でUKのみでダブル・プラチナ(60万枚以上)、現在までにトリプル・プラチナ(100万枚)というバンド初のメガ・ヒット作となった。全英シングル・チャート2位を記録した大ヒット曲「ア・デザイン・フォー・ライフ」は、UKロック史上に燦然と輝く(特に労働者階級にとっての)永久不滅のアンセムである。
今作では、CD1には新リマスター盤、CD2には2万人を動員した97年5月24日のマンチェスターはナイネックス・アリーナでのライヴを収録しており、アリーナ・バンドに登りつめた当時の彼らの熱きライヴが収録されている。
