Not counting a few limited releases and collaborations, Get In is Edition Mego founder Peter Rehberg's first proper album as Pita in over a decade. The album is notably less harsh than previous Pita releases, going for more of a cosmic ambient space than Rehberg is typically known for. Many of the tracks here drift weightlessly, but they do progress, and they aren't without an element of surprise. "Line Angel" is probably the prettiest piece of music Rehberg's ever recorded, yet its starry, crystalline tones are often interrupted by crushed glitches and bends. "S200729" starts with a buzzing synth melody that could've anchored a late-'90s Timbaland production, but halfway through the track, Rehberg switches on a pulverizing amount of distortion. The startling, exciting moment recalls the epic third track on 1999's Get Out, which remains the definitive moment in the Pita catalog. Other pieces such as "9U2016" and "20150609 I" recall the more playful glitch experiments of 2002's Get Down. Following all of these abrasive tracks, "Mfbk" is more straightforward and sublime, with astral melodies slowly unfolding over ten minutes. Get In finds Rehberg stretching the Pita sound into more graceful territory, but he hasn't lost his flair for the unexpected that made his work during the '90s and 2000s so visionary. ~ Paul Simpson

商品の紹介

Mojo (Publisher) (p.97) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[A] master class mood-board of 21st century electronica, moving from deep-bass brooding threat to vicious acid assault squelch and immersive orchestral intensity." Pitchfork (Website) - "It is a record defined by not-so-subtle shifts in volume and intensity. Serene drones give way to rubbery atonal squelch."
