自身のレーベルを立ち上げて初の作品。ポップさとルーツ志向、実験性がバランスよく配置されている。ハイライトは冒頭と最後の長尺曲で、ニルス・クラインがノイジーなギターを弾き倒す前者と、イマジネイティブに音像を紡ぎだす静謐な後者は、今のこのバンドのスケールの大きさを物語る。プロデュースも担当したパット・サンソンのアレンジの妙も隠れた聞き所。ウィルコが現在最高のロック・バンドであることを裏付ける、余裕の傑作。

こりゃ間違いなくウィルコ史上もっともカラフルでポップ、そして最高に無邪気なアルバムでしょ。アンタイ移籍第1弾となる本作では、近年のわりとストレートな音作りから一転、遊び心たっぷりのギターや鍵盤も大活躍する音響系のアプローチが復活。だが、そこにあざとさは皆無で、初期みたいにメンバー全員が満面の笑みで音と戯れているような開放感が最高なのだ。いまの彼らは本当にいいムードにあるんだろうな。
