Poughkeepsie, New York's Against the Current released their first LP, In Our Bones (Fueled by Ramen) in May 2016, debuting at number two on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, as well as breaking into the Top 20 of both the Alternative and Rock charts. The young band melds elements of synth-driven pop with the spirit of pop-punk, resulting in a colorfully vibrant blend of Paramore, PVRIS, and Misterwives. Following their Gravity and Infinity EPs, ATC -- vocalist Chrissy Costanza, guitarist Dan Gow, and drummer Will Ferri -- recorded 12 songs for inclusion on the album, including the propulsive tracks "Running with the Wild Things," "Blood Like Gasoline," and "Wasteland." ~ Neil Z. フェルド・バイ・ラーメンが大プッシュするNY在住の新人3人組。日本独自企画のプレ・デビュー盤『Gravity』(2015年)に収録されていたJ-Popカヴァー群は、彼らの存在を幅広い層に知らしめる一方で、ひょっとしたら洋楽ファンから色眼鏡で見られてしまう危険性があったかも!? しかし、全曲オリジナルによるこのファースト・アルバムが登場したいま、そんな心配は無用だったと痛感。ハードなエモ・ナンバーで鮮烈に幕を開けた後は、80s趣味の煌びやか&抜けの良い音色を散りばめながら、バラードを含む多彩な楽曲の数々でリスナーの心を捉えていく。一番の聴きどころは真っ直ぐに伸びるクリッシー・コスタンザ嬢のヴォーカルであり、そのパワフルさと人懐っこさは『Return Of Saturn』期のノー・ダウトを彷彿とさせるものだ。プロデュースはファイヴ・セカンズ・オブ・サマーなどを手掛けたトミー・イングリッシュ。世界規模でのブレイクはほぼ確実だろう。
