After soundtracking films such as the sci-fi blockbuster Oblivion and the indie You and the Night, Anthony Gonzalez wanted the next M83 album to be unpredictable and fun. Working with longtime collaborator Justin Meldal-Johnson, Gonzalez looked to the theme songs of '70s and '80s TV shows such as Punky Brewster as well as the chaotic, disposable way music is consumed in the 21st century for inspiration. The results, Junk, are as whimsical as its origins and the lead single "Do It, Try It" might suggest, but also tap into Gonzalez's melancholic streak on songs such as "For the Kids."

映画『オブリビオン』や『ダイバージェント』への楽曲提供でも知られ、日本でも高い人気を誇るフランス出身のエレクトロ・シューゲイズ・ポップ・バンド、M83が約5年振り7作目となるアルバム『ジャンク』をNaiveから遂にリリース!
