Down In Heaven

シカゴのガレージ・ポップ・バンド、ツイン・ピークスがサード・アルバム『ダウン・イン・ヘヴン』をリリース!!キャットフィッシュ・アンド・ザ・ボトルメン、ベアーズ・デンなどが所属するUKのレーベル、Communionからのリリース。
シカゴのDIYシーンから発生したツイン・ピークスはメンバー全員が未だ20代初めで小学校からの友人である。デビュー・アルバム『Sunken』を2012年にリリース、大学を中退し音楽活動に専念するようになった。USツアーや大型フェスへの出演を期に彼らのファン層は確実に大きくなっている。彼らの荒削りなギターと青春感溢れる甘くロマンチックなメロディーはウェーヴスやフィドラーにも通じるガレージ・サーフ・ロックと言えるだろう。今作はマサチューセッツ州マーキー・レイクにあるスタジオにてレコーディングされ、バンドとは長い付き合いになるR. アンドリュー・ハンフリーをプロデューサーに迎え、ジョン・アグネロ (ダイナソーJr、カート・ヴァイル、ソニック・ユース)がミキシングを務めている。

シカゴのぬるま湯ガレージ・ロック・バンドが2年ぶりにご帰還です! 中心メンバーが体調不良のなか、ゾンビのポスターだらけな部屋に引きこもって曲作りを行ったそうで、アルバムのテーマは〈死とセックス〉。呆れるほど本能丸出しの歌詞が逆に清々しく、青臭いメロディーともジャストフィット。60sサイケ調のレイドバックした雰囲気といい、ひ弱な歌声といい、ガールズの登場時と少しだけ重なる部分もあります。
