No Fantasy Required

カナダはモントリオール出身のDJ/プロデューサー、そしてエレクトロハウス・シーンを牽引してきたティガことティガ・ソンタグが前作『Ciao!』から7年ぶりとなるアルバムをリリースする。

本作には昨年アルバムを発表しフジロックで来日、日本のオーディエンスを沸かせた超人気イギリス人プロデューサーのハドソン・モホークや、〈Ghostly International〉〈Sectral Sound〉を主宰し、名門〈Plus 8〉や〈Perlon〉からのリリースでもおなじみの敏腕プロデューサーであるマシュー・ディアー、現在は活動休止中の人気ポップ・アクト、シザー・シスターズのボーカル、ジェイク・シアーズ、そして仏名門〈F Communications〉からのリリースで知られる北欧電・シーンのベテラン、ヨリ・フルコネン、デビュー作「Paris Dub 1」がカルトヒットとなり一躍シーンに躍り出たパラノイド・ロンドンら新旧豪華メンバーが参加したティガ渾身の一枚となっている。

Released while the artist was declaring that when it comes to albums, "they don't even matter to me anymore," Tiga's No Fantasy Required is a jumbled mix, featuring some previous singles like 2011's "Plush" and his 2014 collaboration with Pusha T, "Bugatti," although the GOOD Music MC's name has fallen off the track list. Three new collaborations with techno producer Matthew Dear are included, with "Having So Much Fun" standing out thanks to its infectious beat and its borrowing from Lene Lovich's new wave hit "Lucky Number." Hudson Mohawke guests on the silly and stern "Planet E," while Finnish producer and frequent collaborator Jori Hulkkonen receives a handful of editing and co-production credits. The mood is still austere, ironic, and ever so cool as techno collides with house and '80s-flavored electro; just be prepared for a bumpy ride as this one plays out like a singles collection with the looser, lazier B-sides included. ~ David Jeffries

キレの良いエレクトロ・テクノで不動の人気を誇るティガ、約7年ぶりの新作はニンジャ系列のカウンターから。ここ何年かコラボ・シングルを出していたオーディオンことマシュー・ディアが本作でも4曲参加し、ダークで締まりのあるブリーピーなテクノに相性の良さを感じさせます。全体的にテクノ寄りですが、ヴォーカルも使ってポップな要素を巧く織り込むあたりはティガらしいところ。ハドソン・モホークも1曲参加。
