商品の紹介

ヴォーン・ウィリアムズとイングランドの詩人アーシュラ・ウッドと結びつける切っ掛けとなったのが、エドマンド・スペンサーの詩集「祝婚歌」。このスペンサーの「祝婚歌」をウルスラ・ウッドがヴォーン・ウィリアムズに紹介したことにより、新たな作品の誕生そして、2人の結婚へと繋がっていきます。結婚式のオードとして作曲したものの、初演の不評を受けヴォーン・ウィリアムズは1957年この「マスク」を「合唱曲」へと改作しています。ちなみにジャケットカバーはウルスラ・ウッド本人。1938年撮影の写真です
