The self-proclaimed "original big-nosed rapper" Humpty-Hump returns with an album that picks up where previous DU recordings left off. Though late-'90s hip-hop came to be typified by ominous soundscapes and aggressive gangsta rap, Humpty and friends were never out to start anything more than a party. Edward Ellington Humphrey III's boisterous, humor-filled style reigns gleefully over sophisticated, hook-filled tracks that make the most of synth textures and funky, highly danceable beats. Humpty gets some help from the likes of KRS-One, Big Pun and many more. Biz Markie plays the dozens with the Big Proboscis on the x-rated, uproarious "The Odd Couple." Nursery rhyme themes are utilized in the service of more adult themes on "Blind Mice." WHO GOT THE GRAVY ain't nothing but a party, but it's one that will last as long as the disc is spinning.
