商品の紹介

Melody Maker - "...LOW ESTATE is testament to the way musical vision renders categories irrelevant....It's a sound that rages with the distorted menace of the electircal age and drags the frail, steely rattle of mountain music along with it." Entertainment Weekly - "...this Denver alt-country outfit channels the sound of Appalachian Goth as well as any of its current fetishists (Nick Cave, P.J. Harvey). Now a four-piece, they're rocking harder, using banjos and bandonions to conjure ghosts, madness and the usual death march between libido and old-school Christian guilt..." - Rating: B+

Sixteen Horsepower's second full-length album, Low Estate, finds them at the peak of their powers, moving their hypnotic, rustic country-rock into neo-gothic territory. Producer John Parish helps the group reach its potential, accentuating the darkness and mystery inherent in its music. There are still a few weak moments on the record, but overall, Low Estate is an impressive leap forward for Sixteen Horsepower, an album that clearly separates the band from its alt-country contemporaries. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine|
