The Narrow Garden is composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist Eyvind Kang's fourteenth recording in 16 years. In addition to his solo work, Kang has been a studio musician and arranger for everyone from Bill Frisell and John Doe to John Zorn and Sunn 0))). The Narrow Garden was recorded in Barcelona with a group of 30 musicians. The album's seven pieces are informed by everything from European classical music to British Isles and Middle Eastern and Asian folk musics. These pieces are exotic, sometimes dissonant yet accessible, with Kang's arrangements walking the line between spacious and lush.
