Chico Buarque is one of the most sincere artists in Brazil for some decades. Not only he is an extremely sensitive lyricist, he is also a gifted melodist, and his creations always explore the true Brazilian spirit not some fake recreation devised under marketing rationale. For some years working with arranger L.C. Ramos, the sound of his albums has changed, from the pure samba found on Buarque's many albums previous to this association to a more cosmopolitan approach that nevertheless remains faithful to the Brazilian tradition. This double-CD release has more than 45 minutes of music on each disc. Recorded live at Sao Paulo's Palace nightclub in April 1999, the choice of repertoire is impeccable, covering several hits and other not so widely known yet wonderful songs. The luxury booklet brings a full photographic coverage together with all lyrics. Buarque pays a beautiful homage to Tom Jobim, "Sem Voce" (Tom Jobim/Vinicius de Moraes).
